PeptideAgent

PeptideAgent API

A free, read-only JSON API over the same cited dataset that powers this site: evidence grades, US regulatory and WADA status, state rules, head-to-head comparisons, and costs. No key is needed, the limit is 60 requests per minute per IP, and the data is licensed CC BY 4.0 with attribution.

How do I make a first request?

Every endpoint is a plain GET. This lists the healing cluster with each peptide's evidence grade and status:

curl "https://peptideagent.ai/api/v1/peptides?cluster=healing"

From a browser or server, fetch works the same way; CORS is open, so no proxy is needed.

const res = await fetch("https://peptideagent.ai/api/v1/peptides/bpc-157");
const { data, meta } = await res.json();
console.log(data.evidence_grade, data.fda_status, meta.license);

What does a response look like?

Successful responses are JSON wrapped in the same envelope: data holds the record or list, and meta carries the generation time, the license, and the API version.

{
  "data": [ ... ],
  "meta": {
    "generated_at": "2026-09-22T12:00:00.000Z",
    "license": "CC BY 4.0, attribution required: PeptideAgent (https://peptideagent.ai)",
    "version": "1"
  }
}

Records match the site exactly. Each one carries last_verified and version, and records with review_status: "draft" are pending editorial review. Enumerated values such as evidence_grade and fda_status are defined on the methodology page. Dosing text reports ranges used in cited literature only; it is never a recommendation.

How are errors reported?

Errors use standard status codes and a JSON body with an error object (status, code, message) plus the same meta.

Error status codes
StatusMeaning
400Invalid or missing parameter.
401Authorization header sent with a key that is not valid (only when API keys are configured).
404No record with that slug.
429Rate limit exceeded (60 requests per minute per IP without a key).
500Unexpected server error.
{
  "error": {
    "status": 404,
    "code": "not_found",
    "message": "No peptide with slug \"example\". List slugs at /api/v1/peptides."
  },
  "meta": { "generated_at": "...", "license": "...", "version": "1" }
}

What are the rate limits?

The free tier allows 60 requests per minute per IP address. Every response reports the current window in three headers, and a request over the limit gets a 429 with a Retry-After header.

  • X-RateLimit-Limit: requests allowed per minute.
  • X-RateLimit-Remaining: requests left in the window.
  • X-RateLimit-Reset: Unix time, in seconds, when the window resets.

Responses are sent with Cache-Control: public, s-maxage=3600, so repeated requests are usually served from the edge cache and data changes can take up to an hour to appear. If you need everything, download the datasets instead of paging through the API. API keys are not issued yet; when they are, a key sent as Authorization: Bearer raises the limit to 600 per minute. For higher-volume access, email hello@peptideagent.ai.

How should I attribute the data?

The data is licensed under CC BY 4.0. You can use it in any project, including commercial ones, as long as you credit PeptideAgent with a link wherever the data appears, note any changes, and do not imply endorsement. A line like this is enough:

Data from PeptideAgent (https://peptideagent.ai), licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Do not present the data as medical advice. Evidence grades and statuses describe the literature and the regulatory record on the date each record was verified.
